Partner Spotlight: Creating Communities 2016 Arts Mentorship Academy

Multi-year support from The Helen J. Serini Foundation is helping Creating Communities build program capacity by adding mentors, providing higher quality professional development for staff, and adding STEAM and STEM activities to our programs for students in elementary through high school.

This summer, Creating Communities held its 9th annual Arts Mentorship Academy! In June, the organization hosted 50 low-income youth from all over Anne Arundel County. Students received expert instruction is science, art, music, dance as well as delicious meals, journaling, t-shirts, water bottles, and bags.

Creating Communities is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded and directed by award-winning musician and community leader Rob Levit. Programs target underserved communities, with a particular focus on low wealth, vulnerable young people. The organization's goal is to use arts-based alternative educational opportunities to teach artistic skills, life skills, academic competencies, community service, and employability skills.
