The Helen J. Serini Foundation is pleased to announce the following grant awards, which constitute our slate of Spring 2017 Grant Partners:
Adoptions Together (Maryland), $12,500: Adoptions Together builds healthy lifelong family connections for every child and advocates for continuous improvement of systems that promote the well being of children.
Baltimore Community Toolbank (Baltimore City & surrounding areas), $15,000: The Baltimore Community ToolBank offers an inventory of tools—shovels, rakes, drills and so much more—to help nonprofit organizations, religious and educational institutions, community groups and their volunteers increase their impact.
Challengers Independent Living (Baltimore County), Capacity Building, $5,000: Challengers Independent Living, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing independent life-skills services to teens and young adults who are living in long-term foster care.
Homeless Persons Representation Project (Baltimore City), Homeless Youth Initiative, $5,000: HPRP's mission is to end homelessness in Maryland by providing free legal services, including advice, counsel, education, representation and advocacy, for low-income persons who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Humanim, Inc. (Baltimore City), City Seeds Program, $12,500: Humanim supports and empowers individuals who face social or economic challenges — by building pathways to economic equity, opportunity, and independence. The City Seeds Program creates jobs and trains Baltimore residents with barriers to employment in the culinary field.
Parks and People Foundation (Baltimore City), BRANCHES Youth Leadership for Change, $5,000: The Parks & People Foundation is dedicated to supporting a wide range of recreational and educational opportunities; creating and sustaining beautiful and lively parks; and promoting a healthy natural environment for Baltimore. Program-specific funding for the BRANCHES Program will support youth employment and leadership development for Baltimore youth.
Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs (Frederick County), Case Management for Families with Children, $5,000: The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs coordinates donations of time, talent, money, food and other resources to meet the urgent needs of people of Frederick County. The Coalition works toward a more just and compassionate society.
Thread (Baltimore City), $5,000: Thread engages underperforming high school students confronting significant barriers outside of the classroom by providing each one with a family of committed volunteers and increased access to community resources.
University of Baltimore School of Law, Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts (Baltimore City), Truancy Courts Program, $10,000: The Truancy Courts Program assists students who are chronically truant or at risk of chronic truancy in Baltimore City public schools.
