Great Kids Farm is a campus of Baltimore City Public Schools located in Catonsville, Maryland. The farm grows fruits and vegetables as a way of teaching students about nutrition, science, and sustainable agriculture. Food that is grown at the farm is served to student visitors as well as distributed to Baltimore City Public Schools lunch program.
The farm is thrilled to be hosting the fourth annual Fall Food and Jazz Festival October 8th from 3:00PM-6:00PM. The Festival has become a highlight of the year for staff, students, and supporters of the farm.
This festival brings teams of high school culinary arts students from city schools together with some of Baltimore’s top chefs. Teams of students work to create signature dishes featuring produce from Great Kids Farm. Students from the hospitality career track are also involved, welcoming guests and keeping the event running smoothly. Attendees sample each dish and vote on their favorites while the sensational Dunbar High School Jazz Band performs on the lawn.
This event aims not only to fundraise for the programs at Great Kids Farm, but also to showcase the many talents of students in the Baltimore City Public Schools programs, giving them a real world opportunity to use the skills they are learning.
