Banner Neighborhoods Community Corporation, Neighborhood Youth Programs, $10,000: Banner’s Neighborhood Youth Programs provide youth ages 6 – 18 years old a structured, safe and supportive environment where they can learn individual responsibility; experience the importance of community service and civic engagement; interact with positive role models; and acquire life skills that will foster their success in life. Program-specific funding for this program will support year-round opportunities for academic support, art, sports, life skills, and summer teen employment.

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Scholarship for Underserved Youth, $15,000: Cristo Rey Jesuit High School offers a rigorous,college-prep academic program combined with corporate work study experiences to underserved young men and women in Baltimore City. This funding will support a tuition scholarship for one student over two years.

FreeState Justice, $10,000: FreeState Justice seeks to improve the lives of LGBTQ youth through legal services to represent LGBTQ youth in court; training service providers and government agencies in effectively serving LGBTQ youth; and policy advocacy. This general operating funding will support FreeState Justice's work to shift the conversation about LGBTQ youth toward a more welcoming and inclusive environment.

Literacy Council of Frederick County, $15,000: The Council works to teach adults in Frederick County the reading and other English language skills they need to provide for their families and contribute to the well-being and prosperity of our community. Two years of general operating support will help meet operating expenses, including the salaries of the Council's two employees who support programs and volunteer tutors, including new workplace literacy classes for several downtown Frederick restaurants.

Mental Health Association of Frederick County, Systems Navigation, $7,500: Systems Navigation is a free service to assist parents and children with multiple or intensive needs related to behavior, development, school, health, or mental health, to navigate existing services available in Frederick County. Program-specific funding will support navigators in identifying the needs and strengths of each family, and then work with families to address barriers to accessing resources and services.

TasteWise Kids, Strategic Planning, $4,500: TasteWise Kids is dedicated to educating kids about food, from source to plate and to increase their appreciation of fresh foods. Technical assistance will support the hiring of a strategic consultant to develop a strategic plan for this new organization (incorporated in December 2015).
