The Helen J. Serini Foundation is excited to be working with Creating Communities, an organization working in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, working to use the power of music, art, movement and photography to reach learners who need more than traditional modalities of learning and expression.
In August, fifty-one elementary school students, five mentor/artists and eight volunteers from Harbour House/Eastport Terrace and Annapolis-area Title I schools gathered to learn how robotics, green/ecological art, dance and world music contribute to their deeper understanding of the world and their communities.
The August Title I Arts Mentorship Academy was sponsored by The Helen J. Serini Foundation and Title I Office of Anne Arundel County Public Schools. All students receive a 100% scholarship program to the program. All students are from low-income families and qualify for free and reduced meals (FARMS) during the school year.
